Questions Regarding Selection Criteria

Our team has a question regarding selection criteria.


Under the selection criteria, it says "At the end of the competition, the top four teams from each region in the ‘Hackaton leaderboard’ will be invited to participate in the final round."


What does it mean by region? Does Canada consider to be one region?


Also, is the region based on which university the team leader attends?

There are 3 time regions, Americas, EMEA and AsiaPacific

Thanks. Does it base on which university the team leader attends? Or where the location of the majority of team members’ university location? Or where we are residing?

For any user, location is decided from the University you are attending, in a team we will look at the majority of individuals to decide the team region, if equal split the team will be by default attributed to the region with the least submission (to increase the chances of that team to be selected).


For example, if 3 people, one from America, one from Europe, one from Asia, and we have the least submission from America, this team will be attributed to the zone ‘America’.


This is the rule we are considering for now but the rule is subject to change depending on the overall number of submissions and we will consider requests from equal split teams to work on a specific time-zone if we deem the request to be justified and fair.


The objective is to have global reach, note that the live final will occur in the time zone you have selected and 4 teams for each region will compete live in their respective time zone.
