A partnership with Lyxor and Polytechnique
Sponsored by Lyxor International Asset Management, the Alphathon is an opportune continuation of our successful collaboration that started earlier this year with the organisation of a research Datathon. The finance association of Polytechnique is in charge of promoting the Alphathon to the academic world.
Competition details
- Objective: build portfolios combining Lyxor ETFs with the aim to outperform the Lyxor Core Stoxx Europe 600 index.
- Backtest period: 11 years from end-of-2006 to end-of-2017.
- Timeline: the research/submission phase will take place from 16 September to 17 November 2019, followed by a paper trading phase until end-of-February 2020.
- Prizes: Lyxor has offered cash prizes of 12,000 euros for the winners of the Alphathon. Winners will be announced in March 2020.
Strong affluence of students at the launch reception
The Alphathon launch reception hosted by Lyxor in their office attracted a large number of students from a wide panel of universities/schools such as Ecole Polytechnique, Sciences Po, ESILV, Dauphine and Institut Mines-Télécom.
A boost in Alphien’s community
The competition announcement has boosted the number of users, among whom: (1) many students but also (2) highly skilled PhDs, finance researchers and professors, bringing strong profiles for the competition on the one hand, and strengthening our relationship with the academic world on the other hand; and (3) a wide panel of financial professionals, demonstrating that professionals are eagerly looking for new challenges and for innovative ways to benchmark their skills.
